5/3/2017 0 Comments Rome's Rose Garden. There are four seasons, of course... Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter... and then there is the BEST season...Rose Season ❤ I look forward to the opening of Rome's Roseto Comunale ( Rose Garden ) every spring. Those few glorious flowering weeks of May and June contain everything that I hold so dear about Rome... Emotion, Passion, Sensation, Creation and Drama!! ❤ Spring truly is a magical season. The air is heavy with the most beautiful fragrances. The nights are starting to feel warm enough to enjoy being outdoors... well into the evening. The air is alive, the shift in energy is very real. The opening of the Rose Garden coincides with the start of this new season. It is my favorite time, and the love is forever intertwined. The Rose Garden is located on Aventino ( Aventine Hill )... one of the most beautiful parts of the city, and the one I am lucky enough to call home. Not only do you have over 1,000 different varieties of roses to enjoy, but you get to wander about this peaceful oasis also taking in the views of Circus Maximus and The Palatine Hill.
I'm not going to lie... wandering about Rome at any time of the year feels somewhat like you're in a dream state. That magic is somehow, miraculously elevated in this season. My heart is swelling❤

4/9/2017 0 Comments Exploring Monti ❤Rione Monti is Rome's first district... Rione 1. Sandwiched between the Colosseum and Piazza Venezia, you somehow feel miles away from the chaos. Monti is a small Quartiere and feels like a true Roman neighborhood. This is quite remarkable given its proximity to so many tourist "must sees". You still find Romans living and working in Monti... Older couples, families and young artistic types. Monti has been a haven for artists and bohemians since the 1930's, when Mussolini closed off this area between Via Cavour and Via Nazionale to make way for his Via dei Fiori Imperiali. Although definitely gentrified from its once working class roots, Monti has somehow held onto it cool, village like character. Beautiful cobblestones line these ancient lanes. Some of the city's best shopping... unique boutiques and galleries... and some pretty fantastic restaurants!
Monti is classic, chic and oh soooo very cool! Stroll these streets, day or night... the atmosphere is always amazing! 😘 4/8/2017 1 Comment Rome's Jewish Ghetto...Hidden away in the Heart of Rome's Historic Center, you will find this gorgeous gem of a neighborhood. it also happens to be Home to Europe's oldest Jewish Community. Once a place of restriction and crushing poverty... The Ghetto is now one of Rome's high rent districts. Its a quieter Quarter of the city... a bit under-the -radar... but, I guarantee you will not be disappointed if you give yourself some time to wander about these streets. It is a maze. You will get lost...and you will LOVE it!! In recent years, this area has become most famous for its many incredible restaurants.
This once impoverished district gave birth to many of Rome's classic dishes. Eat here... Trust me! Eat, shop, wander... and make sure to enjoy the Turtle Fountain in Piazza Mattei ❤ 3/1/2017 0 Comments Via dei Coronari!!Via dei Coronari is one of my favorite streets in Rome. It is tucked behind Piazza Navona, and feels worlds away. This street is made for strolling. The locals that call it home are a truly fortunate lot. It's an incredibly gorgeous part of town...elegant, charming and picturesque. Via dei Coronari has so many lovely boutiques and galleries. Shopping on this street is pure joy. The atmosphere is local, artisan and has just that little something extra special. This is where I head to shop whenever I'm searching for a cool new pair of handcrafted leather shoes...Italian, of course! Then, there is Gelateria Teatro! This place is the tops for me...every visit to Rome must include a stop here for the most delicious gelato! All the many shops carrying estate jewelry and antiques are to die for! Unfortunately, they currently aren't in my budget...but, a girl can dream!! Leather, fabrics, perfume, food, wine, art...Oh My! I am a shopper.
I LOVE this street!! Take your time, window shop, stop off in a Café, watch the world go by from the charmingly intimate Piazza with the fountain. I am quite sure you will love every moment to spend on Via dei Coronari ❤ 2/15/2017 0 Comments Via Giulia...To me, the via Giulia is one of the most beautiful streets in Rome. An impressive thoroughfare, dating from the early sixteenth century, it is designed in a straight line to connect the Vatican to the Ponte Sisto.
If you know Rome at all, you will understand how significant this long, straight and realatively wide street is to this ancient part of the city. It's creation was quite the feat of urban planning!! For this reason, it was a most desired address for the fashionable and wealthy set. Artists and the Elite flocked to make via Guilia their home..... Really, not much has changed today. When in Rome, it is a must to stroll by the many impressive Palaces (Palazzo) and Churches (Chiesa) that line this incredible street, to stroll below the famous Farnese Arch ( designed by Michelangelo himself ), and stop to admire the renaissance designed Fountain of the Mask, that incorporates a bathtub and mask from Ancient Rome. Enjoy! 12/31/2016 0 Comments December 31st, 2016Welcome to my blog...Stroll Rome!
